South of Surrey started as a mother-daughter venture between Ashton Blue and her mother, Gail Lewis. Being from the American South, but spending years living abroad in Haslemere, Surrey, England, the name and concept of South of Surrey came to be.  After being exposed to the rich history and architecture of Europe, Gail developed a penchant for design. She took her then young daughter, Ashton, across the English countryside to antique treasure troves, and a mutual love affair with all things decor started. Gail passed away in 2023, but Ashton has carried on what they started together and honors her mother with every project.
